How to clean anodized aluminum?

How to clean anodized aluminum?

Choose a neutral cleaner
The best cleaners for anodized aluminum are in the pH six to eight range. Seven is neutral (as opposed to acidic or alkaline), so you need cleaners that are close to neutral. Anything too acidic can damage the surface.

Test the cleaner in an inconspicuous place

Before using the cleaner on the entire surface, test it on an area that is difficult to see. Make sure the cleaner does not stain or damage anodized aluminum before using it to clean other aluminum.

Clean

Wipe the area first with soap and water, focusing on particularly dirty areas. Start with a less abrasive tool, such as a clean rag or washcloth. If that doesn't work, use the cleaning side of the sponge to clean it up.

If you are washing an anodized aluminum pot, make sure you always wash it by hand. It should not be washed in the dishwasher. Also, never immerse a hot pot in water, as it can warp it.

Rinse the metal thoroughly
Once the aluminum is clean, rinse it until no marks remain on the surface. Any residue on aluminum can damage it. This step is especially important if you have used any kind of coarse cleaner.

Move from top to bottom. When rinsing, it is important to start at the top and work your way down. This way you don't wash the residue back into the area you've already cleaned.

Dry the area
If possible, dry the metal with a rag to avoid streaks and stains. Plus, using a tissue can help remove any remaining residue. However, if the area is too large, you can simply let it dry on its own. If you notice streaks, use a cloth.
